WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

We’ve put together a packed programme of keynotes and conversational sessions about the big topics affecting arts and culture and what this means for governance today. We want as many Lancashire voices as possible in the room so that we can discuss the challenges and opportunities together and start to map out an approach to meet them that will help your organisation navigate the key issues and strengthen the wider Lancashire cultural sector.

WHO WILL BE THERE?

We believe that the leadership of our local sector benefits from coming together to talk through and learn more about the challenges and opportunities facing cultural organisations and what they mean for your governance priorities and practices.

There will be people in the room you know well and others you have never met; people who are experts and people who will want to learn from you about your experience and your approach to governance. We hope you’ll find people you can connect and collaborate with beyond this event.

WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?

Artistic organisations thrive when their board trustees actively engage with their vision and work, yet too often, the relationship remains rooted in oversight rather than co-creation. Our programme aims to inspire trustees to move beyond governance and actively connect with the creativity and impact that drives the arts organisations.

This full-day conference invites arts organisations to reimagine how trustees engage with their work and with each other. Through thought-provoking presentations, discussions and collaborative workshops, we’ll tackle questions like:

  • How does active engagement enhance trustee decision-making and advocacy?
  • What common challenges do trustees of Lancashire arts organisations face, and how can they be addressed collaboratively?
  • How can we embed experiences, conversations, and learning opportunities into trustees’ journeys?
  • What structural or cultural shifts are needed to enable greater trustee involvement?
  • What could we put in place to support our collective trustees in their roles as guardians and advocates of Lancashire’s cultural assets and offers?

Attending In Governance We Trust this year will give you local access to the latest thinking and approaches to board development and cultural oversight around trustee engagement and immersion in the arts under their guardianship, helping you to build more support and resilience into your organisation and prepare to meet the challenges ahead.
